Nihonbashi is where Mitsui Fudosan is headquartered and is an area deeply connected to the Mitsui Group. The Nihonbashi Revitalization Plan is being pursued on an ongoing basis through the united efforts of the public sector, private sector and community, driven by the passion to create new value for the future while upholding and bringing out this town's qualities. Several initiatives were also conducted in fiscal 2007 as part of this Plan.

Mitsui Fudosan participates in the volunteer activities of coloring Chuo-dori Street by planting seasonal flowers. The flowers are watered and cared for by local shops and businesses.

Local town councils, employees of businesses in the area and others take part in a major cleanup of Nihonbashi Bridge every July under the auspices of the Meikyo “Nihonbashi” Hozonkai (famed Nihonbashi Bridge preservation society).

During the period between November 2007 and April 2008, pictures and photos depicting the scenes of Nihonbashi from the Edo Period (1603 to 1867) to the Showa Period (1926 to 1989) were displayed on the walls of the temporary enclosure for construction work at Nihonbashi-Muromachi 2-chome. Furthermore, 142 drawings by local elementary school students based on such themes as “The Future of Nihonbashi” were also displayed, creating a festive ambience in the town.

Mitsui Fudosan joined the Hyakuman-nin no Candle Night (candle night of one million people) movement. The lighting at Nihonbashi and Nihonbashi River and the wall lighting of the Mitsui Main Building, Nihonbashi Mitsui Tower and other facilities were turned off, and Nihonbashi was illuminated with lanterns and andon (oil lamps with paper-covered wooden frames).

Established within Mitsui Building No. 6 as a center for disseminating the culture of Nihonbashi. Seminars on the culture and tradition of Japan and Nihonbashi are held by experts from a wide range of fields.

Disseminating the “Eco of Edo” from Nihonbashi

ECO EDO NIHONBASHI is about learning the “mechanism of circulation” and “heart of coexistence” found in the everyday life of Edo (former name of Tokyo), and thereby creating new value unique to Nihonbashi and widely disseminating such to society.
Mitsui Fudosan proactively supports such endeavors.
