Mitsui Fudosan was honored with the Good Design Award(*1) 2007 for seven projects, including development projects. This marks the eighth consecutive year that the Mitsui Fudosan has been an award recipient since the Good Design Award 2000 when it became the first in the industry to have its for-sale condominiums independently honored with a Good Design Award.
Notably, Urban Dock LaLaport TOYOSU, LAZONA Kawasaki plaza and Park Axis Aoyama 1-Chome Tower scored brilliantly for “enhancing a harmonious landscape,” showing that the Mitsui Fudosan urban development that attaches importance to landscape was highly rated.
Good Design Awards were also received in the New Frontier Design Category(*2) and Communication Design Category in the Good Design Award 2007. Mitsui Fudosan's multifaceted value creation efforts in real estate development are believed to have led to such recognition in multiple categories.
(*1) Operated by the Japan Industrial Design Promotion Organization, the Good Design Award is Japan's only comprehensive design evaluation and commendation system. The Good Design Award functions to incorporate good designs into society to improve the quality of lives and further advance industrial activity.
(*2) A category that recognizes innovative and experimental design activities.

TSUNAGU: 'CONNECT'
TSUNAGU: 'CONNECT'
TSUNAGU: 'CONNECT,' which was awarded in the New Frontier Design Category of the Good Design Award 2007, is also one such initiative. Based on the concept of connecting people and promoting communication by decreasing the sense of boundaries through highly-transparent partitioning and other forms and thereby achieving a spatial 'connection' between the outside and inside and between rooms, TSUNAGU: 'CONNECT' was realized through collaboration with Kengo Kuma and other Japanese and overseas designers.TSUNAGU: 'CONNECT' also scored well for “giving rise to social and cultural values” in the evaluation for the award and received the comment, “How the 'Japan value' concept of 'connect' not only takes shape as a concept, but also as a comprehensive coordination of design is worthy of commendation.”
“Park Homes Chitose-Karasuyama Gardens Court” (Setagaya Ward, Tokyo), which embodies this concept, was also launched for sale in 2007.
Tokyo Midtown Value Creation
Tokyo Midtown
In March 2008, Tokyo Midtown celebrated its first anniversary since its grand opening. The number of visitors until then reached roughly 35 million visitors, which exceeded initial expectations.
Based on the concept of “Diversity on the Green,” Mitsui Fudosan embarked on a new urban development in an aim to achieve a fusion of vast greenery with offices, retail facilities, rental housing, hotel, design-related facilities and an array of other urban functions, and to form a “town that creates and brings together 'Japan value' (new values, sensitivities and talents of Japan) and continues to disseminate such to the world” as a center for people to interact with one another. For example, Tokyo Midtown Award, the art/design competition that was started to mark the facility's first anniversary, is intended to support the dissemination of 'Japan value' by the talents on which the next generation depends.
At Tokyo Midtown, while continuing to become a setting for creating new value, revitalization of the Roppongi Area and other steps will be taken in coordination with the community in our ongoing pursuit of “urban development as social philanthropy.”
