Mitsui Garden Hotels have water-conserving taps installed on shower faucets of accommodation units. Furthermore, we investigate the effects of water conservation and provide feedback by periodically implementing maintenance and surveys of the actual water volumes used. Furthermore, we carry out educational activities to raise employee awareness on water conservation. We are also requesting cooperation from guests to conserve water by placing water-level markers (stickers) on bathtubs. In fiscal 2008, we installed water-conserving taps on shower faucets at Mitsui Garden Hotel Shiodome Italia-gai (Minato-ku, Tokyo) and Mitsui Garden Hotel PRANA Tokyo Bay (Urayasu-shi, Chiba Prefecture).

Use of Rain Water and Recycled Water

At Tokyo Midtown (Minato-ku, Tokyo), we collect rain water from roofs of buildings and man-made ground and gather them into rain water tanks. After filtering and sterilizing it, we use it for toilet water or for watering greenery. Furthermore, we also appropriately treat a part of miscellaneous drainage and kitchen drainage to produce recycled water and use it for toilet water and other purposes. In fiscal 2008, we used approximately 17,974m3 of rain water and approximately 243,101m3 of recycled water from treating miscellaneous drainage, etc.
