At Mitsui Repark, which are parking spaces operated on a national basis by Mitsui Real Estate Sales Co., Ltd., lighting fixtures in the parking spaces are being switched to LED illumination. In March 2010, the company switched lighting fixtures within about 750 existing parking spaces primarily in the Kanto region, Osaka city and Nagoya city, to LED illumination. Due to this, an annual CO2 emissions reduction of approximately 314 tons is projected. Furthermore, with regards to new parking spaces that will be opened in the future, the company is planning to utilize LED illumination in all lighting fixtures within the parking space, including guide signs.

The resort facility of the Mitsui Fudosan Group named Haimurubushi is located inside Iriomote-Ishigaki National Park and the facility is operated by being mindful of the rich natural environment found in Yaeyama.
In order to have guests gain a comprehensive understanding of the importance of preserving the natural environment, “Environmental Classes on the Sea” are being held by inviting marine biologist, Masamichi Hayashi, as the teacher, who makes sure that the learning experience is fun. Environmental Classes on the Sea refers to activities by Mr. Hayashi to teach children the love of the sea and the importance of marine life and marine environments through the use of his self-made marine life robots which are made from PET bottles and waste materials thrown away at the seashore.
In fiscal 2010, the third series of such classes was held during the period between July 29 and August 8. More than 30 participated in the event each day. After being given a class on the biology of marine life, the marine life robots were made to float on the surface of a pool so that participants could see and feel the habits and swimming traits of marine life up close. On the following day, participants actually went out to the sea and snorkeled. They saw the beautiful coral reef and fish and were made to realize the importance of the sea.
At Haimurubushi, we are planning to continue holding Environmental Classes on the Sea.
