At office buildings and retail properties, we use recycled water that was produced by treating rainwater and drainage, in pursuit of the efficient use of water.
At “LaLaport Shin Misato,” (Misato-shi, Saitama Prefecture), we use rainwater which was temporarily stored (effective capacity of approximately 70 tons) for watering outdoor plants. Also at “Tokyo Midtown,” (Minato-ku, Tokyo), we use rainwater for watering outdoor plants or for sprinkling water during the “Roppongi Uchimizu Daisakusen” (an event at Roppongi for sprinkling water on streets to control airborne dirt or ease heat). Furthermore, we reuse recycled water that was produced by treating miscellaneous drainage, etc. as toilet flushing water, etc. In addition, at “Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation Head Office Building,” “Muromachi Higashi Mitsui Building” (Chuo-ku, Tokyo) and “Gran Tokyo North Tower,” (Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo) we treat rainwater and use it for flushing toilets.

We are also pouring effort into saving water by reviewing water volumes, the operation management of facilities, etc.
Water-Saving Measures through “CO2 Reduction Patrols”
When we implemented “CO2 Reduction Patrols” at retail facilities during fiscal 2009, we executed water-saving measures, by saving on fountain water or toilet flushing water. As a result, we managed to reduce the annual volume of water used by approximately 28,560m3.

Sales of the “Eco Continuous Stay Plan”
At the Mitsui Garden Hotels, we began sales of an “Eco Continuous Stay Plan,” starting from August 2010, which involves not changing linens, such as bed sheets, or not cleaning guest rooms during continuous stays. By not changing linens or cleaning guest rooms every day, the water and washing detergents used for washing or cleaning can be reduced. Furthermore, this contributes to the reduction of environmental impact. Moreover, with this plan, a reduction in room charges is granted.

We have installed water conservation equipment in toilets, showers, etc. and are reducing the amount of water used.
Shin Kawasaki Building
Switched Over Toilets in Common-Use Areas to the Water-saving Type
At “Shin Kawasaki Building,” (Saiwai-ku, Kawasaki-shi) we have been implementing constructions to switch toilets in common-use areas to water-saving toilets starting from fiscal 2008. During fiscal 2009, we renewed toilets in the common-use areas of 32 floors and installed 288 water-saving toilets. In fiscal 2010, we renewed 234 toilets in the remaining 26 floors and are planning to complete the renewal construction for the entire building. As a result of the completion of this renewal for the entire building, we are projecting an annual reduction of approximately 11,550m3 of water.
Furthermore, at “Mitsui Outlet Park Shiga Ryuou,” (Gamou-gun, Shiga Prefecture) we introduced water-saving toilets.
Moreover, when building a new office building, our standard is to install water-saving toilets.
Installation of Water-saving Devices in Shower Faucets of Hotels
At “Mitsui Garden Hotel Yotsuya,” (Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo) we installed water-saving devices in shower faucets during fiscal 2009. As a result, we have been able to reduce the amount of water used by around 10% compared to the period before the introduction.
At “Mitsui Garden Hotel Sendai,” (Aoba-ku, Sendai-shi) which was opened in July 2009, we also installed water-saving devices in shower faucets.

At “Mitsui Outlet Park Shiga Ryuou,” we introduced permeable pavement for approximately 36,800m2 of the parking space so that it functions as a detention basin. Furthermore, we also established a permeable detention basin without permeable pavement (the area of the upper part is approximately 700m2) and are giving care to the reinjection of rainwater.
