Data on Environmental Activities (Mitsui Fudosan)

Scope of Data Complied

Mitsui Fudosan is performing understanding of environmental activity data of office buildings related to the revised Energy Conservation Law, retail properties, hotels and other aggregate targets (water and waste targeting part of these).

Scope of Data Complied

Energy Consumption

The total energy consumption in fiscal 2011 amounts to 209.3 thousand kl (crude oil equivalent) / year and the energy consumption unit (per floor area) is 0.0464k (crude oil equivalent) / m2 and year, being reduced 13.1% and 11.8%, respectively, compared to the previous year, and ended up being a result that greatly surpassed the national effort target (year-on-year reduction of more than 1% annually in energy use per unit of businesses). This is thought to be due to significant effects of continually held facility conversions, management improvements, connection and cooperation with tenants, and especially the electricity and energy conservation measures held after the earthquake during the summertime of 2011. Great results were able to be achieved through the cooperation of customers, tenants, and participants.

CO2 Emissions

CO2 emissions in 2011 totaled 340.1 thousand t –CO2/year and the CO2 emission unit (per floor area) is 0.0753t –CO2/m2 and year, a reduction of 13.4% and 12.3%, respectively, compared to last year.
This is due to the large reduction in electricity consumption by taking power- and energy conservation measures after the earthquake.

Water Consumption

The total water consumption (*1) in fiscal 2011 was 4,931 thousand m3/year and decreased 7.5% compared to the previous year. This is due to the decrease in city and business water consumption (*2) by the water-saving efforts performed as part of the electricity and energy conservation measures taken in the summertime and partial reduction of hotel facilities. Further, recycled water consumption decreased 13.1% at 417 thousand m3/year, and the ratio comprised by water consumption (8.5%) decreased 5 points compared to the previous year (9.0%).
Additionally, the city and business water consumption unit (per floor area) decreased 6.0% compared to the previous year as well at 1.007m3/m2.

*1 Water consumption:Sum total of city and business water consumption and recycled water consumption. Does not include use of rainwater.
*2 City and business water consumption:City and business water consumption includes the use of well water.

Disposed Waste

The total disposed waste of fiscal 2011 amounts to 33,354t/year and remained about the same as the previous year. General waste comprised approximately 82% and industrial waste comprised approximately 18% of the disposed waste.
General disposed waste amounted to 27,436t/year and remained about the same as the previous year, but the general disposed waste unit (per floor area) became 0.0067t/m2.
Industrial disposed waste amounted to 5,918t/year, increasing 2.5% compared to the previous year. The industrial disposed waste unit (per floor area) became 0.0015t/m2.
