The Mitsui Fudosan Group would like to announce the reopening of the recently redesigned 121-room Toba Hotel International in Toba City, Mie Prefecture, Japan. The reopening is scheduled for April 1, 2010.

First opened in 1964 to offer overnight accommodations to visitors to the Ise Shrine, over its 45-year history the hotel has hosted many esteemed guests, including members of Japan’s Imperial family, prominent Japanese political and financial figures, and foreign dignitaries.

As the hallowed Ise Shrine prepares for its major festival – the ceremonial rebuilding* of the shrine that occurs once every 20 years – Toba Hotel International has transformed its rooms, main dining hall and bar, and lobby completely under the design concept, "A Resort in the Sea of Pearls." Guests will enjoy more appealing and restful accommodations than ever, along with the hotel's outstanding service and hospitality.
*The ceremonial rebuilding of the Ise Shrine, one of Japan's most ancient sacred places, is a tradition reaching back nearly 1,300-years, and is the shrine’s most important event. The shikinensengu, as the event is known in Japanese, involves the complete dismantling and rebuilding of the main shrine every 20 years. The next ceremony will take place in 2013.

At the same time, Mikimoto Cosmetics, part of the renowned Mikimoto Group based in the Toba area, will open PEARL SPA by MIKIMOTO COSMETICS within the hotel. The new facility will be the first authentic pearl spa at a Japanese resort.

1. Rooms designed to offer more enticing views of Toba Bay, the "Sea of Pearls"
   The renovated hotel will feature 15 Ocean View suites (56 m²) and 24 Harbor View Twin rooms (33 m²). These new rooms will allow guests to better enjoy views of the constantly transforming scenery around the beautiful waters and islands of Toba Bay (the "Sea of Pearls").
   Ocean View suites have been strategically designed to allow guests to enjoy a panoramic view from a roughly 7-meter wide window, while in Harbor View Twin rooms, the desk, bed and armchair all face the sea.

2. Main dining room uses local ingredients and features a Chef’s Counter where customers can watch their meals prepared
   The main dining hall, dubbed The Sea Horse, makes use of seasonal vegetables and fresh seafood to offer a menu of truly unique resort-style French cuisine. The main dining hall, which has welcomed countless VIPs from Japan and around the world will incorporate a new Chef’s Counter, where diners can enjoy all the sights, sounds, smells, textures and tastes as their dishes are prepared as an executive chef personally selects the seafood, vegetables and other delightful seasonal ingredients of Ise Shima, and prepares meals right in front of diners' eyes.

3. Special entrance lobby and library-style bar to enhance the resort atmosphere
   The hotel’s new entrance lobby, an airy space with a view of Toba Bay, is designed to heighten the anticipation of one’s stay at a luxury resort hotel. Also new to the hotel is a library-style bar with a seaside-manor feel, where guests can relax and enjoy a good drink and a good book day or night during their stay while watching boats shuttle between islands through the panoramic window.

5. Japan’s first authentic resort pearl spa by the Mikimoto Group
   Mikimoto Cosmetics, a member of the world-renowned Mikimoto Group, based in the Toba area, has spent years scientifically researching ways to harness the distinctive luster of pearls in cosmetics. The fruits of these labors will be available to guests in PEARL SPA by MIKIMOTO COSMETICS, the first authentic pearl spa at a resort anywhere in Japan.
   
   The spa room is a relaxing space where guests can take in breathtaking views of Toba Bay and receive a luxurious hand treatment incorporating pearl essence. Guests staying in the Ocean Wing or Harbor Wing will also be able to enjoy original Mikimoto Cosmetics amenities.
