Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. (Head Office: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President and Chief Executive Officer: Masanobu Komoda) and LaLaport Management Co., Ltd. (Location: Chuo-ku, Tokyo; President: Tadashi Ando) have decided to name the 12th facility of the MITSUI OUTLET PARK series of outlet malls MITSUI OUTLET PARK KISARAZU, and to conduct the grand opening of the first stage of the project with 171 stores (including 148 outlet stores) and a total store floor space of about 28,000 m2 on April 13, 2012 (Friday). MITSUI OUTLET PARK KISARAZU has been under development on a designated site within the Kaneda Higashi Special Development Zone in Kisarazu City, Chiba Prefecture.

In the project's final stage, Mitsui Fudosan plans to expand the facility into one of Japan's largest outlet malls hosting some 200 to 250 stores with a total store floor space of roughly 40,000 m2.

Main Features of the First Stage of MITSUI OUTLET PARK KISARAZU

  • A total of 171 stores, including 21 opening outlet stores for the first time in Japan and 46 for the first time in the Kanto region
  • Creation of a spacious, resort-style facility based on the concept of BOSO CITY RESORT
  • Outstanding access from the greater Tokyo metropolitan area, including central Tokyo and Kanagawa Prefecture, via the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line highway
  • Easy public transportation access, including scheduled bus services from the neighboring JR train stations, and Aqua-Line non-stop expressway bus services from the Tokyo and Kanagawa areas
  • Reduction in electricity consumption through the active use of energy-efficient equipment (Reduction of about 20% compared with Mitsui Fudosan's existing retail facilities). The mall has an environmentally friendly, smart facility design featuring an onsite solar power generation facility with the capacity to supply around 600 kW of electricity - the largest of its kind at any shopping center in East Japan.
  • A large food court seating around 650 people, gathering popular cuisine from all parts of Japan in one location, including popular local restaurants

  • A total of 171 stores, including 21 opening outlet stores for the first time in Japan and 46 for the first time in the Kanto region
    • The mall brings together a variety of retail genres, such as overseas luxury brands, leading specialty stores, Japanese and international high fashion brands, sports and outdoors goods, accessories and fashion merchandise. There is a full lineup of attractive stores that satisfies a broad range of age groups, from young people to the elderly.

  • Creation of a spacious, resort-style facility based on the concept of BOSO CITY RESORT
    • The mall has been stylishly designed with many different aspects so that visitors can enjoy strolling around the facility as well as shopping. For example, Coast Plaza is filled with a seaside resort-like ambience that takes full advantage of the mall's location in a rich natural setting along the coast.
    • A large, roofed space has been created in the center of the facility. Pier Street, as it is known, is a bright, all-weather main street. A stage has been installed to hold various events that will create a festive atmosphere.
    • Ocean View Terrace is located atop the food court. This facility looks out over Tokyo Bay and the Aqua-Line, and on fine days, people can enjoy spectacular views of TOKYO SKYTREE and Mt. Fuji in the distance.

  • Excellent access from the greater Tokyo metropolitan area, including central Tokyo and Kanagawa Prefecture, via the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line highway
    • The facility is located for excellent access from the greater Tokyo metropolitan area, including not only areas within Chiba Prefecture, but also central Tokyo and coastal areas of Kanagawa Prefecture. The mall is located approximately 1 km from the Kisarazu Kaneda IC where the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line connects to the coast of Chiba Prefecture.
    • Located only about 25 minutes from Tokyo International Airport (Haneda Airport), the mall offers excellent access for visitors from other parts of Japan and Asia. Accordingly, the mall will actively strive to attract tourists.
  • Easy public transportation access, including scheduled bus services from the neighboring JR train stations, and Aqua-Line non-stop expressway bus services from the Tokyo and Kanagawa areas
    • Scheduled bus services are planned to begin in time with the opening of the mall from three neighboring train stations, namely Kisarazu, Iwane and Sodegaura stations on the JR Uchibo Line. These services will dramatically improve access for visitors arriving by train.
    • The mall will enjoy excellent access via expressway buses, with many options for visitors to reach the mall using non-stop buses via the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line. The Kisarazu Kaneda Bus Terminal, which is close to the mall, can be reached in roughly 40 minutes from Tokyo Station, while the Sodegaura Bus Terminal can be reached within 1 hour from all major terminal stations such as Shinagawa, Kawasaki, Yokohama and Shinjuku. Furthermore, direct non-stop expressway bus services to the mall will also be available along with scheduled bus services from both bus terminals (pending approval).
    • LED lights have not only been installed in the common areas as a matter of course, but their use has also been encouraged throughout the facility, including in each of the tenanted spaces. Other environmentally conscious initiatives include installation of a gas heat pump fitted with a generator and use of reconstituted wood as a building material. The facility is also designed to accommodate increasing use of electric vehicles through the installation of charging stations.
    • - These initiatives are expected to realize a 20% reduction in electricity consumption compared with conventional Mitsui Fudosan retail facilities of comparable size.
    • The solar power generation equipment installed is the largest of its kind at any shopping center in eastern Japan. This equipment has the capacity to supply around 600 kW of electricity, the equivalent of about half of the annual power consumption of the mall's common areas. Through measures such as these, Mitsui Fudosan is creating smart facilities that both save and create electricity.
  • A large food court seating around 650 people gathering popular cuisine from all parts of Japan in one location, including popular local restaurants
    • The mall has a large food court with seating capacity for roughly 650 people. This expansive area has been designed based on the motif of the deck of a cruiser in port, reflecting Kizarazu's history as a port town. It brings together popular cuisine from all parts of Japan in a single location. Local cuisine is also served, including “wappa meshi” offered by a famous local Japanese inn, popular ramen shops from around Chiba Prefecture and desserts produced by a local farm.
    • Chiba Prefecture Tourist Information Center has also been set up in the Food Court. This facility will provide information about surrounding sightseeing spots. It is intended to encourage visitors to not only enjoy the mall, but also to experience the wealth of attractions that the Boso region has to offer.

Mitsui Fudosan presently operates 11 MITSUI OUTLET PARK facilities across Japan. Overseas, Shanjing Outlet Plaza-Ningbo (Zhejiang Province, China) opened on September 23, 2011. This was the Mitsui Fudosan Group's first participation in an overseas retail facility development project. Looking ahead, Mitsui Fudosan will continue to actively develop additional MITSUI OUTLET PARK facilities, while enhancing the appeal of existing facilities.

*&EARTH expresses the Group policy that all its activities should always be in harmony with the Earth. This policy is based on the Mitsui corporate philosophy of coexisting in harmony with society, symbolized by the Mitsui Fudosan Group logo. The Mitsui Fudosan Residential Group is united in a commitment to work together with customers to create new towns that will lead to a happier and more prosperous future.

The (&) logo represents an inclusive approach toward harmonious coexistence that transcends conflicting ideals in the process of creating new value. This contrasts with the notion of "or," in which society must often choose between perceived opposing perspectives, such as "civilization or nature," "economy or culture," "work or study." The logo was adopted in April 1991.
