Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. and Mitsui Fudosan Retail Management Co., Ltd. will celebrate the first opening anniversary of the retail property DiverCity Tokyo Plaza (Location: Koto Ward, Tokyo) with the opening on April 19 (Friday) of the skate park H.L.N.A SKYGARDEN, located on the facility’s rooftop. Three new highly unique stores, including Japan’s first Yuru-Kyara shop dealing in regional mascot character merchandise, will also be opened inside the Tokyo Trend Produce area.

H.L.N.A SKYGARDEN is an expansive space that will be capable of accommodating around 500 people, with views of the sea. The area will be used as an authentic skate park designed with input from professional surfer and actor Ryu Nakamura, for skaters of all levels from children to professionals. It will also be made available as an event space. The goal is to create a space that offers a cross-over of skateboarding, as an action sport, with fashion, music, art and culture.

Tokyo Trend Produce is an incubation project (support for new stores) designed to identify new store genres and creators. Three new trend-setting stores featuring Japan’s “kawaii” (“cute”) pop culture style will be opened in this area.

  • The Yuru-Kyara shop is Japan’s first store to offer a full selection of merchandise related to the nationwide regional mascot characters known as yuru-kyara, who are active in PR activities. The merchandise is selected from all over Japan with an eye to “cuteness” and home-town appeal.
  • The Puchi Colle Shop (petite collection) is Japan’s first boutique targeting elementary-school aged girls. Produced by the highly popular elementary school girls’ fashion magazine Niko?Puchi, the shop’s fashion, general merchandise and other lineups include popular brands that feature in the magazine.
  • The Ne-Ne-STORE is a new concept shop based on the popular character magazine Ne-Ne and offering a lineup of merchandise themed on characters such as Rilakkuma, Sentimental Circus, Mameshiba, and Nyanpire.

DiverCity Tokyo Plaza has seen a multitude of visitors from Japan and overseas since opening on April 19, 2012. Based on the concept of a theater-oriented urban space, this new Tokyo landmark offer visitors not just shopping, but also entertainment and relaxation, as well as fresh surprises and thrilling experiences. Tokyo DiverCity will continue to pursue new initiatives going forward.
