Nihonbashi Revitalization Project: Nihonbashi Omotenashi Project Becomes Fully Operational
Guided Tours for Overseas Tourists Given by Foreign Concierges (Nihonbashi Information Center) Starting May 17

Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. has been carrying out the Nihonbashi Omotenashi Project designed to enable overseas tourists and others to experience the enjoyment of learning about the culture, history and townscape of Nihonbashi at the Japanese-Style Rooms and Tea Rooms Kyoraku-TEI / Meguri-AN (on the third floor of COREDO Muromachi 3) .

Mitsui Fudosan announced today the full-fledged operational commencement of the “Best of Japan Tour in COREDO Muromachi,” which are informative guided tours given by foreign concierges that will form the core part of the project, and the “OMOTENASHI Experience,” which enables foreign tourists to experience Japanese culture.

Going forward, Mitsui Fudosan will focus on Nihonbashi as one of the most historical and culturally traditional areas of Tokyo to strengthen initiatives aimed at conveying the great charms of Japanese culture and to publicize these around the world.

Overview of the Nihonbashi Omotenashi Project

(1)Guided Tours for Overseas Tourists Given by Foreign Concierges “Best of Japan Tour in COREDO Muromachi” (Held in COREDO Muromachi)

Overview Kimono-clad foreign concierges offer guided tours to provide overseas tourists with an introduction of COREDO Muromachi from the viewpoint of a non-Japanese. COREDO Muromachi is lined with shops and tenants that represent all areas of Japan, stretching from Hokkaido in the north to Kagoshima in Kyushu in the south.
This tour will enable participants to taste local merchandise from all over Japan and experience Japanese culture, all the while being in Nihonbashi.
* A Japanese person may take part in a tour if they are accompanying a foreigner.

(2)OMOTENASHI Experience (Held in the Japanese-Style Rooms, “Kyoraku-TEI”)

Overview Experience traditional Japanese “omotenashi” (hospitality) through such means as watching the tea ceremony or geisha, and experience a new type of tourism by trying on a kimono. Bilingual conversation (Japanese and English) is possible, enabling non-Japanese visitors to enjoy the occasion.
Dates 1. Tea ceremony Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.
2. Entertainment by geisha Mondays and the 2nd and 4th Saturday of each month from 5 p.m. to 6 p.m.
3. Kimono rental and dressing Saturdays from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
