Mitsui Fudosan to Renew Certification of Tokyo Metropolitan Ordinance on Environmental Preservation
“Outstanding Specified Anti-Global Warming Facility”
Three Facilities Maintain Designation As “Top-Level Facility,” Another Two As “Semi Top Level Facility”

April 6, 2016
Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd.

Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. announced the renewal on March 28 of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government certification for three facilities-Tokyo Midtown (Minato-ku, Tokyo), Nihonbashi Mitsui Tower (Chuo-ku, Tokyo) and Ginza Mitsui Building (Chuo-ku, Tokyo)-as a Top-Level Facility, and for two facilities-Shiodome City Center (Minato-ku, Tokyo) and Nihonbashi 1-chome Mitsui Building (Chuo-ku, Tokyo)-as a Semi Top Level Facility, under the Yuryo Tokutei Chikyu Ondanka Taisaku Jigyosho (“outstanding specified anti-global warming facility”) certification system based on the Certification of Tokyo Metropolitan Ordinance on Environmental Preservation.

The certification is provided following an inspection of 213 items related to the CO2 emission reduction frameworks regulated by the Tokyo Metropolitan Government, regarding the building equipment performance and the facility equipment operations. The metropolitan government reduces the emissions reduction obligations of facilities whose initiatives are outstanding. It certifies facilities with scores of 80 or more as Top Level, and 70 or more as Semi Top Level, and reduces the emission reductions obligations of such facilities to 1/2 and 3/4, respectively.

For the five applicable facilities, certification of Top-Level Facility and Semi-Top-Level Facility were obtained in fiscal 2010 for the first plan period of fiscal 2010 to fiscal 2014, and over the five years of the plan the facilities continued to implement initiatives to reduce CO2 emissions.

Certification standards for the second plan period of 2015 to 2019 were dramatically revised, significantly raising the degree of difficulty in obtaining certification. However, as a result of the implementation of measures to improve operations including the addition of measuring equipment and control apparatus, construction of a framework for close cooperation with each operating company, meticulous preparations and detailed tuning of equipment, certification of the five facilities was renewed.

For office buildings, Mitsui Fudosan has received this certification more than any other operator, and the Company has now received Outstanding Specified Anti-Global Warming Facility for 13 facilities (16 buildings*) it owns or operates.

Looking ahead, Mitsui Fudosan will plan and supply new properties with outstanding environmental performance from the planning stage, and utilize its operational and management expertise to realize the next dimension of living comfortably in harmony with the environment.

Mitsui Fudosan, under the slogan “Beyond the Office,” will continue to provide distinctive office buildings that go beyond conventional concepts to generate new added value, including these initiatives for living harmoniously with the environment.
In addition, Mitsui Fudosan regards its mission as contributing to the realization of a sustainable society in accordance with the environmental principles expressed inand EARTH , nd strives to improve its product performance and environmental performance, which is evaluated by customers in all the buildings it owns or operates.
