Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. (headquarters: Chuo-ku, Tokyo) and Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts (headquarters: Toronto, Canada) wish to announce their decision to open a Four Seasons Hotel on the upper floors of Tower B, which is now under construction at Otemachi 1-2, Chiyoda-ku, Tokyo as part of the OH-1 Project. The hotel is scheduled to open in the spring of 2020.

The OH-1 Project undertaken jointly by Mitsui & Co., Ltd. and Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. is one of the major large-scale redevelopment projects now underway in metropolitan Tokyo. Construction work has started from May 18 this year. The project for development of two towers (total floor space: approx. 360,000 square meters) for composite use that house primarily offices designed with state-of-the-art functionality also includes the Four Seasons Hotel, multi-purpose halls appropriate for both business and entertainment uses, an expansive garden that covers approximately 6,000 square meters and faces the Imperial Palace, and other facilities suitable for a variety of uses that will serve to enhance the Otemachi area.

The Four Seasons Hotel is a luxury hotel brand highly acclaimed for luxury hotels operated throughout the world that have continued to provide large numbers of distinguished guests with refined services and warm hospitality.

The hotel will be opened on the upper floors of Tower B, the OH-1 Project, for redevelopment being undertaken in one of Japan’s foremost business districts, Otemachi, where major corporations both domestic and foreign are located. Guests who enter the hotel lobby on the top floor will be greeted with a spectacular panoramic view and a serene extraordinary space that will make guests forget the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, one of the world’s great cities. The hotel is proud to offer approximately 190 guest rooms on the 34th-38th floors that are elegantly designed and spacious in combination with world-class hospitality provided by the friendly and welcoming staff of The Four Seasons that will enable guests from around the world to enjoy a time of quiet relaxation.

The objective of the OH-1 Project, as a National Strategic Special Zones designated project, is to develop a base that will enhance MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, and events) activities to attract foreign companies and promote business exchanges. The hotel will play a part in this effort. The intent of opening a luxury hotel in the heart of Tokyo that offers spectacular views and is operated by a highly recognized hotel brand is not simply to provide an accommodation facility to serve growing demand by foreign visitors to Japan; we are also confident that it will help to reinforce the competitiveness of Tokyo as a cosmopolitan city.

Comment by J. Allen Smith, president and CEO of Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts

A landmark hotel in one of the best locations in Tokyo, this will be a striking property that speaks to our confidence in this city as we meet the growing demand of Four Seasons guests and international luxury travellers visiting Tokyo. We have been seeking the right opportunity to extend our presence here and are excited to work in partnership with Mitsui Fudosan to introduce a new Four Seasons experience in Tokyo, one that that will appeal to business and leisure travellers, as well as the domestic market. Japanese outbound travellers represent a significant number of Four Seasons guests around the world and we look forward to offering our Japanese guests a new opportunity to experience Four Seasons at home.
