Tokyo, Japan, September 13, 2017 - Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd., a leading global real estate company headquartered in Tokyo, announced today that it will jointly construct the Shinsaibashi-suji 1-Chome Plan (tentative name) retail facility in the Shinsaibashi-suji 1-Chome district of Chuo-ku, Osaka, with MIKIGAKKI Co., Ltd. MIKIGAKKI and Gap Japan K.K. will occupy the facility. Construction started in February 2017 and the facility is scheduled to be completed and open for business in fall 2018.

This facility located on the corner of Shinsaibashi-suji Shopping Street and Unagidani-Minami-dori Street will maximize the characteristic features of the site with a curtain wall running spanning the first and second walls, thereby communicating in the most amplified way the liveliness of the interior. The facility will create further bustle in the shopping district and contribute to producing increased vitality and attraction in the area.

Global apparel brand Gap, a casual American-style line, will open in the store area encompassing the three areas of the basement, part of the first floor and the second floor. The facility will provide a space to enjoy carefree shopping for all ages with a rich variation of colors, range of sizes with casual fashion items from its Gap adult brand, GapKids for children and babyGap for babies.

MIKIGAKKI will open a store on part of the first floor and operate music classrooms on the third through fifth floors. MIKIGAKKI Shinsaibashi Store, temporarily relocated since the end of June 2016 as a result of construction of this facility, will re-open in a revamped format as a Yamaha piano and electronic organ specialty store. MIKIGAKKI runs a music and musical instrument-related business, including the sales of musical instruments and sheet music and operation of musical classes, centered on Osaka and the Kansai region. The new store and classrooms are spaces filled with a sense of sophisticated status and propose a new musical lifestyle.

Mitsui Fudosan has been contracted by MIKIGAKKI to carry out the proposal for development planning, design and construction management as the development manager. Mitsui Fudosan develops and operates urban-style retail properties in the centers of major cities throughout Japan. Going forward, it will continue to actively advance business expansion in the Shinsaibashi area.
