Service Features in Detail

Feature 1
Providing services to address out-of-stock products at real stores, and supporting customer referrals from e-commerce sites to real stores

  • Purchase products online with certainty even if the products are out of stock at the store
A preliminary survey of shoppers on the use of retail properties has revealed that “not finding products sought” and “finding products out of stock” are major sources of stress for consumers. The survey also found that 74%*3 of visitors to retail properties want merchants to provide services to address out-of-stock items. At Mitsui Shopping Park &mall, even if products are out of stock at stores, the inventories of nearby stores*4 and warehouses can be checked and the products can be purchased on the spot. The products are then delivered directly to consumers? homes at a later date. These services will help to eliminate sales losses caused by missed sales opportunities (opportunity losses) when products are out of stock at stores. Such sales losses are estimated to amount to around 10-20% of store sales.

*3 Based on an online survey by Mitsui Fudosan (January 2016)

  • When a shopper wishes to see an actual physical product that he or she has chosen from the abundant product lineups displayed online, the shopper can click on the “Store Inventories” icon on the website to display the stores that carry the product. This function is recommended to shoppers who wish to inspect the actual physical product before purchasing it, or to those who wish to check whether their products of interest are actually in stock at stores*4 before visiting the stores. In this manner, Mitsui Shopping Park &mall will create opportunities to refer customers browsing the e-commerce mall site to real stores.

Feature 2
Providing support for revitalizing real stores by means including enhancing the motivation of store staff

  • Sales generated through customer service and product sales via tablets at real stores will contribute to the performance review of the store that closes the sale
The most effective system provided by Mitsui Shopping Park &mall for revitalizing real stores is that when store staff interact with customers and sell products displayed on Mitsui Shopping Park &mall via tablets, the data on these sales are aggregated for each store that closes such a sale. By aggregating this data at the level of the stores closing the sales, merchants will be able to accelerate the adoption of omni-channeling at stores, thereby building solid collaborative partnerships with their real stores.
  • Accurately keep track of which store staff members offered fashion coordination proposals that generated product sales. Enhance the motivation of sales staff by linking this data to individual performance reviews.
Product sales can be generated from fashion coordination proposals offered by store staff and published on Mitsui Shopping Park &mall. Stores will be able to record data on the type of fashion coordination proposals that led to the sale and the staff member who offered the proposal. Therefore, the data can be linked to individual performance reviews, which can be expected to enhance the motivation of store staff. This will be a new service that could not have been achieved at conventional e-commerce malls.

Accumulate and Redeem Points on Both the Internet and at Real Stores

Shoppers will be able to accumulate and redeem Mitsui Shopping Park points at both the Mitsui Shopping Park &mall site and real stores.
