Sports Wing Renovations Completed (Phase 1)

Tokyo, Japan, December 1, 2017 - Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd., a leading global real estate company headquartered in Tokyo, announced today that the large-scale renovations that it had been undertaking on the Sports Wing of the Sendai-Izumi Shopping Center were completed today. To mark the completion, people involved with this project held an unveiling ceremony on ice at the “Ice Rink Sendai” inside the Sports Wing.

Recently, this facility was renamed “Mitsui Fudosan SPORTS LINK CITY FUN-TE!” and the Company is creating neighborhoods utilizing the “power of sports.” Based on that concept, this will be reborn as a facility that connects individuals and provides people of a wide span of generations from children through to adults a place to enjoy sports. Completion of the large-scale renovations of the Sports Wing constitutes Phase 1 of this project.
Furthermore, in spring 2018, “MIFA Football Park Sendai (tentative name),” created with the concept of being a place to create communication through football and music, and WILD BEACH Sendai (tentative name), created with the concept of being designed to be “more convenient, refined and stylish,” will be newly established. As a result, the entire facility is now scheduled to open.

Overview of Main Renovations
* Complete renovation of the Sports Wing
The exterior was re-painted in a simple tone and billboards and signage renewed.
* Renovations were carried out inside Ice Rink Sendai operated by Kato Shokai Co., Ltd.
The ice skating area, sports lounge, changing rooms, studio and gallery (exhibition space) are among the places to have been newly established or renovated to make the facility one in which even more users, children or athletes say they want to utilize more for practice, enjoyment or to aim even higher.

The logo of BE THE CHANGE, which carries the meaning of each person bringing about their own change, has been designed with the motif of a “Wind” changing the world. The symbol painted in the two Mitsui Fudosan corporate colors conveys the image of a “Bird riding the wind and flying through the skies.” The slogan contains the philosophy of “If people change, they can change the world” for 2020 and beyond.
