Tokyo, Japan, February 13, 2018 - Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd., a leading global real estate company headquartered in Tokyo, will start remodeling Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport SHIN MISATO in Misato City, Saitama Prefecture, in spring 2018. Reopening after this remodeling is scheduled to occur in two stages, the first from Friday, March 16 and the second from Friday, April 27 for large-scale stores, with 34 stores opening (23 stores opening for the first time and 11 opening following refurbishment), including 6 stores openingtheir first outlet in Saitama Prefecture. There will be even better entertainment features, and the facility will evolve into a mall that all generations can enjoy.

Features of the Major Revamp of Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport SHIN MISATO

The region’s No. 1 Entertainment Mall will be even better, going beyond visitors’ imaginations!

(1) FASHION ENTERTAINMENT

The mall will attract a greater number of popular fashion and sports brands, making shopping at the facility even more enjoyable.

(2) FAMILY/KIDS ENTERTAINMENT

The mall will begin displaying a train-inspired food sample showcase presenting the kids’ menus available in the restaurant and food court. The mall will strengthen its support for families’ shopping needs by offering an upgraded and expanded range of specialty fashion stores for kids.

(3) FOODS/CAFÉ ENTERTAINMENT

Numerous new dining locations, including popular cafes, will open in the restaurant and food court.

Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport SHIN MISATO opened in 2009 as the core retail property in Shin-Misato LaLa City, a large-scale, mixed-use redevelopment project built on approx. 126 acres (about 51 hectares) of what was once the Musashino Switchyard. Shin-Misato LaLa City has developed into one of Japan’s major retail properties, with Swedish furnishing and interior giant IKEA and American large-scale wholesaler Costco located on the site. Moreover, in 2012, LaLaport SHIN MISATO ANNEX was completed, followed in 2014 by the completion of a condominium in the station area as the town has continued to develop. The major revamp will contribute to even further development of the town.

(1) FASHION ENTERTAINMENT

The mall aggregates many different fashion brands in one place, making shopping at the facility even more enjoyable.

Fashion sundries

A series of shops offering a wide range of fashion merchandise, ranging from sophisticated fashion brands to adorable sundries, will open at the mall.

(2) FAMILY/KIDS ENTERTAINMENT

The mall will upgrade and expand the range of specialty stores with products including toys and stationery that support parenting and make it more enjoyable.

  • THOMAS TOWN
    THOMAS TOWN, an indoor theme park based on Thomas & Friends, is full of fun and entertainment for young children. One of its popular attractions is THOMAS Carousel Carnival, a fun Thomas & Friends-themed miniature carousel ride.

  • Thomas & Friends Baby Lounge
    A second location for the popular Thomas & Friends Baby Lounge will open at the end of the common-area passageway on the second floor of the outdoor mall. (Planned for late March)

  • ROUND1 STADIUM
    A comprehensive entertainment facility offering bowling, amusement, karaoke, Spo-Cha and more. The Kids Spo-Cha area is filled with play structures and equipment such as a ball pool. Mothers can also enjoy exercising while watching over their children.

Mama with LaLaport

The Mitsui Fudosan Group understands that parents would like to freely enjoy shopping even when they have to look after their small children. To realize their aspirations, working mothers at Mitsui Fudosan who are raising children formed a team to initiate the Mama with LaLaport project. The team seeks to develop shopping facilities that parents raising young children can visit with peace of mind. To do so, the team has been supporting parents by developing both the physical and intangible aspects of shopping malls, such as facilities and services. For example, the team has collaborated with various shops to develop unique child-friendly amenity menus and services.

Mitsui Shopping Park Kids Club

Mitsui Shopping Park Kids Club is an exclusive members club for children of elementary school age or younger. Members receive various exclusive members’ benefits and are invited to participate in events at 18 retail properties operated by Mitsui Fudosan Retail Management Co., Ltd., including Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport.

(3) FOODS/CAFE´ ENTERTAINMENT

Food Court

The mall has further enhanced its dining lineup by attracting new restaurants and cafes with a diverse selection of dining options.

The food court is designed based on the themes of a railroad and train station (9 dining establishments with a seating capacity of approximately 600), with 3 establishments opening for the first time. Popular features include a kids’ play area with artificial turf, a raised tatami-floored seating area, and train-themed kids’ restrooms.

Providing a wide selection of dining options, ranging from popular cafes to restaurants serving hearty meals.

Other Daily Support Services

Hosting a diverse portfolio of stores that support daily life with refinement and elegance, enjoyment and peace of mind.

Remodeling of Common Areas

  • Event spaces and common-area passageways have been remodeled with a refreshing and positive interior de´cor, creating an environment that makes shopping even more enjoyable than before. (Scheduled for completion in May 2018)

  • The mall will start displaying a train-inspired food sample showcase adjacent to the popular kids’ space. The showcase will present the kids’ menus available at the restaurant and food court. Children will be able to have fun finding something they would like to eat. (Scheduled for completion in May 2018)br>
  • Remodeling of the employees’ lounge has been underway since last year to ensure that employees are able to spend their break time more comfortably. The lounge has been made easier and more convenient to use by installing a new powder corner, and adding more recharging outlets and counter seats.
  • As part of the remodeling planned for this spring, the staff entrance will also be renovated, thereby making it easier and more comfortable for staff members to commute to the facility. (Scheduled for completion in April 2018)
