Completion of Gran Tokyo North Tower on October 31

Tokyo Station City has become the new face and focal point of Tokyo, Japan's cosmopolitan capital. Gran Tokyo North Tower (Stage I), a 200-meter tall skyscraper, was completed on a site near Tokyo Station's Yaesu Exit. On November 6, 2007, the upscale department store Daimaru opened a new Tokyo branch on this site.

Project Overview

Uniting people, the region, society, the natural environment, history and business

The development project near Tokyo Station's Yaesu Exit will reform and expand the area's service, commercial and logistical capabilities. The goal of this project is city and community revitalization that will spearhead future development of the Yaesu and Nihonbashi area. These changes will transform the area into a hub uniting people, the region, society at large, the natural environment, history, and business. Taking advantage of Japan's system for transferring the floor area from one project to another, this latest project utilizes unused land around the Marunouchi Line's Tokyo Station building. Transfer of this land resulted in a grand design appropriate for putting a new face on Japan's capital.

Crystal design for a unified look

For a unified look, a "crystal design" incorporating high-transparency glass has also been adopted for the Gran Tokyo South Tower, which is being developed as a companion to the Gran Tokyo North Tower. Connected by a dynamic and airy roof complex called the "Gran Roof," and with parallel plazas fronting on Tokyo Station, the twin towers will create lively and enriching spaces.
