Winner of MIPIM Asia award
Tokyo Midtown was a selected project in the Mixed-use Buildings category (one of seven categories) at the 2007 MIPIM Asia conference held in Hong Kong. In addition, it received the "Special Jury Award," given to just one project across all seven categories.
* MIPIM is an international exhibition that allows national governments, local governments, real estate companies (including hotel and commercial facility companies), and investors to introduce projects, appeal for funds, and find investors or business partners. |

This is a joint project between Mitsui Fudosan and five institutional investors. The five institutional investors have entrusted Mitsui Fudosan with project management in the design and construction stages, master lease-related work, and property management after the project has been completed. In addition, Mitsui Fudosan Investment Advisors will handle asset management. In this project, private investors are redeveloping government-owned land and handling the management of various assets. In this sense, the project represents a new model for urban redevelopment.

Tokyo Midtown: a place with everything
Tokyo Midtown is a place where one can live, work, play, and relax. Facilities like offices, hotels, rental housing, commercial facilities, large green spaces, and museums boast high functionality, and the interplay between these facilities creates new value.
Commercial facility concept
The facility is based on the concept of a “high-quality urban lifestyle.” Lush greenery creates a feeling of liberation, and the facility houses stores that cater to a wide variety of lifestyles, including fashion shops, interior design stores, cafes, restaurants and bars, and other services. There were about 140 existing trees on the Tokyo Midtown property, including camphor, gingko, and cherry trees, some more than 14-15 meters high. These trees were temporarily moved to a tree farm, and then replanted at Tokyo Midtown in time for the Grand Opening. The trees were transplanted in their original state, meaning that roots were uncut and branches untrimmed. Accordingly, specialized equipment was used to dig holes, and the trees were then moved to their new homes. This kind of work is extremely rare in urban areas.
