Forest certification
Forest certifications acquired by Group-owned forests
Forests owned by the Mitsui Fudosan Group have acquired the SGEC forestry management certification and the FORESTOCK Certification in recognition of our contributions to biodiversity conservation and appropriate forest management.
SGEC forestry management certification acquired
All forests owned by the Mitsui Fudosan Group have received the forestry management certification from the Sustainable Green Ecosystem Council (SGEC). The forestry management (FM) certification indicates that a forest is being appropriately managed and operated from social, economic,
and environmental perspectives.
The SGEC forestry management certification is based on the Montréal Process, a set of evaluation criteria and indicators for sustainable forest management that has been adopted by 12 countries that together own 49 percent of the world’s forests. The program uses criteria that are
tailored to the natural characteristics and social context of Japan’s forests.

FORESTOCK Certification acquired
Forests owned by the Mitsui Fudosan Group have been certified by the FORESTOCK Association in recognition of their contribution to biodiversity conservation, outstanding forest management and administration, and absorption of 21,315 metric tons of CO2 annually (calculated from the
certification date of January 1, 2023). This forestland is the largest to have received FORESTOCK Certification.
FORESTOCK Certification is a certification system created by the Forest Management Association of Japan that certifies forests based on multifaceted studies and assessments conducted by a third-party organization on matters such as the forests’ CO2 absorption and biodiversity. We
will continue to advance forest management and conservation further by undergoing these assessments on an ongoing basis.
