Collaboration between forests and local governments
Contributing to the future of forests and communities through a variety of initiatives
We are implementing a variety of initiatives in collaboration with local governments and businesses. In Hokkaido, where our forests are located, we are invigorating local economies by revitalizing the forestry industry through the creation of “never-ending forests.”
Conclusion of Agreement on Promoting the Use of Wood in Buildings
The Mitsui Fudosan Group has concluded an Agreement on Promoting the Use of Wood in Buildings with the Hokkaido Government, the Hokkaido Federation of Forestry Cooperatives, and the Hokkaido Federation of Wood Industry Cooperative Associations. The main points of the agreement include promoting the use of Hokkaido wood and wood produced in our forests, establishing a supply network, and using this wood in the buildings we plan to construct going forward. We will continue to work closely with the Hokkaido Government to contribute to the realization of a decarbonized society and energize the forestry industry, thereby invigorating the local economy.

Collaboration with the Tokyo Metropolitan Government Bureau of Waterworks
Since June 2017, we have been working with the Bureau of Waterworks of the Tokyo Metropolitan Government to promote conservation activities targeting the forests upstream of the Tama River, which protects the supply of water to the metropolis.
Employees also participate in forest maintenance activities such as preparing the land and planting trees in the agreement area. By enabling people to experience the creation of a healthy forest, we hope to raise awareness of conservation activities targeting forests that play a key role in protecting the water supply.
