Among many of the large-scale commercial development projects that Mitsui Fudosan is currently undertaking, we are pleased to announce the start of construction at Kashiwanoha Campus Station Project located along the Tsukuba Express Railway. The new facility will be named as "LaLaport Kashiwanoha".
Our concept defined as "life solution community*1", is applied throughout our recent shopping centers development projects. Each project has its own theme that suits the location and local community. The Kashiwanoha community encourages LOHAS (abbreviation for "lifestyles of health and sustainability"), the latest concept that focuses on sustainable society and prioritizes natural environment and health. We support these values and has incorporated the LOHAS concept into this project.

Japan is now filled with "goods &aqmp; products". We recognize that people are seeking for a "place & time" to enrich their life through inter-communication and various experience and encounter. "Life Solution Community" is not a place just to obtain "goods" but to enjoy interaction and communication as well as realization of ones unique way of life. Our wish is to establish and operate a commercial complex that satisfies the various and always changing needs and demands of customers.
This new shopping center will allocate open space and atrium, as well as abundant greenery within and around the site to harmonize with its surrounding to create an open, unconfined space where one can feel and enjoy the changing seasons.
As environmental measures, we will build rooftop garden and plantation so that the transpiration effect of the plants will contribute to the reduction of air-conditioning load of the entire facility. In addition, we will establish electrical-power based heat source system that includes ice thermal storage and NAS battery for high-energy efficiency.
We also intend to reprocess the food wastes and raw garbage derived within the facility into animal feedings and fertilizers and supply them to the local farmers and livestock breeders. The livestock products and agricultural produces of these local farmers will be sold at the new shopping center to facilitate and contribute to the ideal "local production for local consumption" concept. Furthermore, we are planning to coordinate with the nearby University of Chiba to promote an industry-academic tie-up concerning environment measures. From the design phase, we have placed deep consideration over environment and aim to obtain ISO 14001 certification.
LaLaport Kashiwanoha
The shopping center will house: 1) grocery store operated by Tokyu Store, carrying full lineup of food, beverages and other everyday goods; 2) cinema complex operated by Shochiku Multiplex Theatres, which includes 10 movie screens with seating capacity of 2000; and 3) sports club that equips yoga studio and offers thalassotherapy treatment, operated Thalassa Shima Spa & Resort, the operator of thalassotherapy treatment center in Shima (Mie Prefecture). The three tenants assent to the LOHAS concept and we are currently discussing with them how this concept can be featured in each of its allocated space. In addition to these, we are planning to invite interior and furniture store, clothing shops for young families, attraction for kids, relaxation center, dining facilities and more to the new Lalaport Kashiwanoha.
Just 30 minutes ride via Tsukuba Express from Akihabara Station in Tokyo, this project site is blessed with the nearbv Kashiwanoha Prefectural Park’s natural environment. Also located near Kashiwa Campus of University of Tokyo and University of Chiba, the entire community is working to promote "Campus City Vision Plan" through collaboration among business, academia and government for community development. This project is the first large-scale development ever to be conducted near Kashiwanoha Campus Station.
Mitsui Fudosan Group is the operator of "TOKYO-BAY LaLaport (open in 1981)", one of Japan’s largest suburban shopping center located in Funabashi City, Chiba Prefecture. We intend to dedicate all the know-how we gained from "TOKYO-BAY LaLaport" to the new "LaLaport Kashiwanoha". We are committed to establish and develop a shopping center that focuses on customers' needs and solutions.
