Tokyo Midtown (Project representative: Mitsui Fudosan) marked its 1st anniversary on Sunday, March 30, 2008.

Thanks to all, 35 million guests visited Tokyo Midtown in its inaugural year. The commercial zone, raising the slogan “urban life with superior quality of everyday living”, has generated approximately 30.6 billion sales in the first year. We are proud of this greater-than-expected performance in terms of both number of visitors and sales.

Till today, Tokyo Midtown has aimed to achieve a fusion of various functions utilizing its vast green space under the concept “Diversity On The Green”. We placed effort to create a community center where people can exchange, create, and build up “JAPAN VALUE (the new Japanese values, sensitivities, talents, etc.)”, and disseminate this value to the world.

Marking the 1st anniversary, we will establish “Tokyo Midtown Award”, a new art/design competition to discover and introduce brand-new “JAPAN VALUE”; the value that reflects the unique culture of Tokyo, which balances and integrates tradition and cutting edge. Our objective is to encounter and back up young designer(s) and/or artist(s) that will lead the next generation. We wish to introduce to the world the talents of these hopeful designers/artists. The details of the competition will be announced early/ mid-May.

Tokyo Midtown will continue to become the stage for creating new values. Tokyo Midtown is also committed to take measures in revitalization of Akasaka/Roppongi District by maintaining close coordination with its neighbors and the community.
