Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. today announced that it will hold an opening for the expanded Mitsui Outlet Park Kisarazu, located in Kisarazu City, Chiba, which will have been enlarged through the completion of the second-stage expansion plan, at 10 am on Thursday July 17, 2014. The second-stage expansion will increase the number of shops from 175 stores to 248 stores, making it the largest outlet mall in Metropolitan Tokyo in terms of shop numbers.

The second-stage expansion will add even more popular brands from Japan and abroad than previously, including foreign luxury brands and sophisticated fashion specialty shops. In addition, numerous new stores will open (including first-openings in Japan) that are proposing quality lifestyles including hobbies and general merchandise. In addition, the food court and food sales will also be enhanced, enabling visitors to Kisarazu to sample famous gourmet dishes from around the world as the facility evolves even further to offer its customers the full enjoyment in shopping and dining.

Of the 73 new stores, 23 are opening for the first time in Japan. With 248 stores, Mitsui Outlet Park Kisarazu has the largest number of stores in the Tokyo Metropolitan Area

Convenient Access from the City Center

The facility has an easily accessible location close to the Kisarazu Kaneda IC where the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line connects with Chiba Prefecture. Located at the entrance to tourist destinations in the southern half of Chibas Boso Peninsula, the mall attracts a large number of diverse customers from the Kanto region, including from Tokyo and Yokohama across the bay, in addition to the many local residents of Chiba. The site offers superb access by car, being about 45 minutes from Tokyo Station, about 42 minutes from Yokohama Station, and about 15 minutes from Kawasaki Ukishima IC along the Tokyo Bay Aqua-Line. There are also non-stop expressway buses departing daily from Tokyo Station and other major stations. With this level of convenient access, Mitsui Outlet Park Kisarazu is a true “Resort Outlet” that anyone from the city centers can easily visit, whether traveling alone or as a family.

Expansion of Food Court and Food Sales

The expanded-facility opening will see 5 new restaurants open their doors in the food court, bringing the total to 15. Customer seating will also expand by a factor of 1.7 from 700 places to 1,200. Food Sales will also be bolstered, including the second store of KuKuRuZa Popcorn, a popular outlet from Tokyo's fashionable Omotesando area. In this way, the facility will evolve to offer even greater dining pleasure by improving the restaurant environment as well as the shopping.

Largest Solar Power Generation Facility in a Retail Property

The facility is designed around the concept of “An Outlet Mall in Harmony with the Environment.” The expanded-facility opening will include a 440 kW increase in the solar-power generation capacity of the facility from 660 kW to 1,100 kW in total. This puts the facility in the “mega solar” class, as the largest solar power generation facility in a retail property in Japan.
