Mitsui Outlet Park Hokuriku Oyabe (Tentative name)
Work started for a scheduled summer 2015 opening of approx. 160 stores

Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd

Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. announced today that it has started work on the 13th Mitsui Outlet Park in Oyabe City, Toyama Prefecture. Tentatively named the Mitsui Outlet Park Hokuriku Oyabe, the mall is scheduled to open in the summer of 2015.

The planned facility will be a two-story, enclosed mall (indoor mall), taking into account the Hokuriku area climate, on a site of approximately 130,000 m2 with floor space of approximately 45,000 m2 and a combined floor area of stores of approximately 26,000 m2. There are plans for approximately 160 stores and parking for approximately 2,800 vehicles.

This mall will utilize its position amid the scenic beauty of Toyama Prefecture under a construction concept of overlapping and interlocking to provide a space that blends of Toyama Prefecture’s nature and traditions with a cutting-edge shopping environment. Furthermore, there will be attractions apart from shopping to enjoy, including a 50-meter-high Ferris wheel and an outdoor playground for children.

Access to the Hokuriku area will be enhanced by the opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen from the spring of 2015, raising expectations of an increase in the number of tourists, not only from within Japan, but also from overseas, mainly from Asia. In addition to “hard” features such as a prayer room, free Wi-Fi spots, and multilingual signage and pamphlets, Mitsui Fudosan has also paid attention to “soft” aspects such as connections with the abundant tourist sites in the Hokuriku area and mutual customer referrals with its outlet mall developments in Malaysia and Taiwan.

Mitsui Fudosan plans to invite popular brands from Japan and abroad, including sophisticated fashion specialty shops, children’s stores, sporting and outdoor goods, fashion accessories in addition of local restaurants or stores that will incorporate elements of local produce.

The mall will be located beside National Route 8, 3 km from the Fukuoka IC of Noetsu Expressway and approximately 8 km from the Oyabe IC of Hokuriku Expressway, giving it outstanding access by road not only from Toyama Prefecture but across a broad area encompassing the entire Hokuriku Region.

In conjunction with the spring 2015 opening of the Hokuriku Shinkansen, the facility has been planned to attract customers from a wide area across the Tohoku region and to contribute to invigorating the area’s economy.
