Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd.

Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. (location: Chuo-ku, Tokyo/CEO: Masanobu Komoda) is pleased to announce the opening on Friday, April 10, 2015, of Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport FUJIMI, on a site of approx. 152,000 m2 in the center of Fujimi, Saitama Prefecture. It will be the largest regional shopping center in the Tobu Tojo Line catchment area.

The LaLaport concept marks 35 years since the appearance in 1981 of Funabashi Shopping Center LaLaport (currently Mitsui Shopping Park LaLaport TOKYO-BAY) and has moved ahead in conjunction with local communities in step with the changing times since then. Opening in spring of 2015, LaLaport FUJIMI will realize one-stop shopping offering a high degree of satisfaction with 293 stores and is designed to be unified with its local community beyond its buildings and onsite services. Furthermore, the facility has a full complement of entertainment functions and has invited “sensory stores” that fuse experiential consumption and shopping. Through such measures, LaLaport FUJIMI will evolve to embody the new target concept for LaLaport, changing from “place where people gather” to “a place where people interact,” and responding to diverse needs and a broad array of new lifestyles.

The Concept behind LaLaport FUJIMI

Facilities Coexist with Communities through Environmental Measures and Disaster Countermeasures

LaLaport FUJIMI uses LED lighting in common areas and has incorporated greenery on some walls, the rooftop and fences. The facility also has a disaster-resistant communication system and a fully equipped disaster readiness system. The facility has also actively incorporated universal design so that it can be used with confidence by anyone, including people accompanying small children, elderly people, people with physical disabilities, and people from overseas. In this way, the facility helps to make the community environmentally considerate, disaster-resistant and people-friendly.

(1) Environmental initiatives

Approx. 100 kW of solar power panels
By making electricity generation equipment “visible,” the facility promotes awareness of energy-saving.
  Hybrid illumination
Lighting powered by solar and wind power has been positioned near the entrance to the City Office and in the green area park.
Electric vehicle charging stations
Recharging stations for seven vehicles have been established on a level carpark on the National Route 254 Bypass side.

Measures to reduce trash
Promotion of separate collection and recycling, and ensuring conversion of raw waste into feed and fertilizer.
Environmental promotion and social contribution activities “&EARTH”
Conduct onsite collection of unneeded clothing and PET bottle caps from households, as well as events to promote understanding of guide dogs, and so forth.

(2) Disaster-readiness initiatives

Cooktop benches
Normally these are used as benches, but in times of emergency, they can be used as cooktops.
  Emergency toilets
These toilets can be set up easily over a manhole during times of emergency.
  • A large capacity adjustment reservoir (approx. 63,000 m3) able to process rainwater from the surrounding area has also been set up on the site.
  • The facility is fully prepared with disaster-readiness systems, including announcement of emergency earthquake notices and an onsite disaster readiness center with disaster resistant communication systems such as satellite phones and an MCA wireless.

(3) Universal design initiatives

  • The facility signage, floor maps, and directories are displayed in four languages - Japanese, English, simplified Chinese, and Korean - to make the facility easier to use for visitors of other languages and nationalities.
  • There are also multifunction toilets for the convenience of people accompanying children, elderly people, wheelchair users, people with ostomies, and so forth. There are three multifunction toilets on each floor, nine in total.
