Asian Entrepreneurship Award Announces 2015 Award Winners

Future Design Center, TX Entrepreneur Partners, Division of University Corporate Relations at
the University of Tokyo, and Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd., held a global innovation showcase featuring
Asian startups, Asian Entrepreneurship Award (AEA) 2015 from May 24 through 26, 2015.
AEA’s fourth year saw ambitious 30 startup teams which passed their domestic selections from 12
countries and economies across Asia, and they gave impressive presentations to AEA judges at
AEA’s main event, AEA Business Pitching Competition. They competed for primacy in the following
areas: uniqueness of innovative business model, economic and social impact potential, and
feasibility of implementation.
With expanding the program this year, AEA 2015 hosted a number of Asian attendees at
Kashiwa-no-ha Open Innovation Lab (KOIL) and the Kashiwa-no-ha Conference Center (KCC); the
attendees are ambitious entrepreneurs, seasoned professional mentors, active venture capitalists,
researchers of Asian premier academic institutions, business development professionals in private
sectors, and students planning to start their own businesses.
The 30 startups accelerated their business ideas through productive discussions with AEA’s
seasoned mentors on Day 1. They also expanded their Asian networks to realize their global reach
at the reception party held on the same day. On Day 2, they gave their great presentations to AEA’s
judges and audiences. After thorough discussion among judges, the 8 companies were selected as
the finalists. In the Final round on Day 3, the 8 finalists brought their innovative ideas to the
judges through their best presentations. After careful consideration, the judging panel announced

AEA is the platform of global innovation ecosystem where all attendees encounter the latest
business ideas from Asian innovative startups. AEA is the hub for entrepreneurs, investors, public
sectors, researchers, and business development professionals to forge new relations, to create new
businesses, and to have innovative impact on global society.

After the opening keynote speech by Dr. Kagami at the University of Tokyo and an
instructive panel discussion by AEA nominating committee, Asian 30 startups
improved their business ideas through mentoring sessions.

Day 2: May 25 (Mon)
An alumnus of AEA 2012 held a speech to the attendees, and premier investors
brought innovative ideas to audiences through their panel discussions. In the
afternoon, the AEA’s judges selected 8 finalists among Asian 30 startups.

Day 3: May 26 (Tue)
Japan’s policy maker, senior decision maker of a global company, and Japan’s top
incubator had the special speeches in the morning. The 8 finalists gave their best
presentations to AEA’s judges and the winners were announced at the reception held
in the evening.
