Further Strengthening Our Response to Inbound Tourism
Coming to DiverCity Tokyo Plaza’s Tokyo Gourmet Stadium Food Court
Multilingual Translation System Starting from Friday, July 17

July 10, 2015
Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd.

Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. will introduce an inbound tourism system for printing out menus in four foreign languages (English, Chinese (simplified and traditional), Korean, and Thai) for each restaurant in the Tokyo Gourmet Stadium food court at DiverCity Tokyo Plaza (Location: Aomi, Koto-ku, Tokyo), as well as provide support staff for clearing tables, starting from Friday July 17.

Menus for all food court restaurants will be accessible on a single machine using the multilingual system, and recommendations from each establishment will also be displayed. Until now, each restaurant prepared its own multilingual menu, and visitors from overseas bore a significant burden as it took time selecting items and restaurants and each restaurant needed to employ staff capable of responding to questions in a variety of different languages. Introducing this system will enable guests to smoothly select a menu and items in their own language and restaurants will receive printed order sheets, making the process more efficient for both parties in addition to being easier to understand.

And to make the food court even more pleasant to use, support staff capable of responding to visitors from within and outside of Japan will be newly assigned to provide guidance and clear tables.

DiverCity Tokyo Plaza has been promoting various inbound tourism initiatives, including the establishment of a foreign currency exchange (Travelex), introduction of China UnionPay credit card payment systems in all stores, expansion of duty-free shops, employment of information desk staff capable of speaking English and Chinese, and provision of free Wi-Fi. There has been a steady increase in the number of overseas visitors traveling in groups, prompting a doubling of bus numbers in fiscal 2014, and growth in the current fiscal year is also expected to more than double compared to the previous fiscal year.

Other Mitsui Fudosan retail properties across Japan have also responded with a variety of measures to boost their inbound tourism response, such as Mitsui Outlet Park Hokuriku Oyabe, which will open on July 16 and will provide a foreign exchange vending machine and a prayer room.

To respond to the increasing number of foreign visitors to Japan going forward, the Mitsui Fudosan Group will work as one to respond with a stronger inbound tourism response not only for retail properties but also for hotels, resorts, and more.
