Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd.
Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd., a leading global real estate company headquartered in Tokyo, announced today that it will conduct large-scale renovations of Mitsui Shopping Park LAZONA Kawasaki Plaza, located in the Saiwai district of Kawasaki City. They will be the second set of major renovations conducted since 2012.
The renovations will result in the opening of over 100 new or renovated stores. In addition, Lufa Plaza in front of the train station will be renovated, and a new area for kids and their parents as well as a baby care room will be established with the aim of making the facility a place for leisurely spending a day. By spring 2018, LAZONA Kawasaki Plaza will be completely transformed.
- Major changes to stores (over 100 new and renovated stores to open)
- Station-front Lufa Plaza to receive artificial turf for gathering and relaxation
- New kids and parents area and baby care room for a facility even friendlier to the child-raising generation
Since its opening in September 2006, LAZONA Kawasaki Plaza has been operated on the theme of food, music and travel with the goal of being a place to discover new lifestyles. It has also been a site for community activities, and not simply as a place to buy products, to accommodate the broad needs of the local community.
Continuing on from the previous major renovations in autumn 2012, the new renovations represent the further evolution of the facility as one of Japan’s prominent shopping centers, and as a Kawasaki landmark. The facility will continue to contribute to the city’s development based on the idea of getting better with age, meaning, of course, that as time passes things mature and gain in value.
Renovation Highlights: 1. Major Changes to Stores
The renovation will entail the opening of over 100 new or renovated stores, which is over 30% of the total. Some of the new stores are slated to be establishments sure to draw attention, such as stores opening for the first time in the Kanto region and stores opening for the first time in a shopping mall.
*Details on the new stores will be announced at a later date in a separate press release.
Renovation Highlights: 2. Lufa Plaza for Gathering and Relaxation
Lufa Plaza has been used by neighboring residents as a lane leading to and from the train station, but with the renovations, it will receive artificial turf and be transformed into a place for people to gather. Thanks to the new turf, new events that could not previously be conducted will be held on the plaza, where people can sit, recline and relax. This project, named “LAZOVIVA,” will be more actively carried out to make the site a true entertainment destination.
The word “LAZOVIVA” derives from “LAZONA” and the Japanese word for play area.
It is a project of LAZONA Kawasaki Plaza aimed at making the facility an entertainment destination, a place where community bonds are formed, and where fun abounds.
Renovation Highlights: 3. A Friendlier Facility for Parents with Small Children
New Area for Kids and Parents and Baby Care Room
A new area for kids and parents and a new baby care room will be established at LAZONA Kawasaki Plaza so customers who are parents can spend a pleasant and enjoyable time at the facility with their children. The area for kids and parents will have different zones for children of differing ages, and the baby care room will have convenient bench seats, small fans and other amenities for a more comfortable nursing experience. LAZONA Kawasaki Plaza aims to be a facility that is even friendlier to the child-raising generation.
*Detailed information on the area for kids and parents and the baby care room will be announced at a later date in a separate press release.
