Tokyo, Japan, November 1, 2018 - Takenaka Corporation and Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd., a leading global real estate company headquartered in Tokyo, together with Mitsui Fudosan Hotel Management Co., Ltd. announced that they have started construction on the Nakasu 5-Chome Hotel Project (tentative name; planned total of 257 rooms) in Nakasu 5-chome, Hakata-ku, Fukuoka City.
This project is to build a hotel designed and constructed by Takenaka Corporation that considers the surrounding environment and comfort of guests on land it owns.
Following the completion of construction, the Mitsui Fudosan Group will lease the hotel and Mitsui Fudosan Hotel Management will operate it. The opening of the hotel is scheduled for the spring of 2020.
The project site is located in central Fukuoka City, about 2 minutes on foot from Nakasu-Kawabata Station on the Kuko and Hakozaki Lines, providing transfer-free access from Fukuoka Airport and from Hakata Station on the Shinkansen and JR lines.
In addition, the hotel will have a very convenient location as a base for sightseeing, leisure and business activities, and will be good for walking around Fukuoka City and access to nearby tourist destinations. The hotel will cater to the needs of guests from both inside Japan and overseas.
Mitsui Fudosan Hotel Management currently operates 6,545 rooms in 25 facilities throughout Japan under Mitsui Garden Hotels, its upper middle-class lodging-focused hotel brand, and THE CELESTINE HOTELS, its high-class lodging-focused hotel brand.
Nakasu 5-Chome Hotel Project will be the second hotel operated by the Mitsui Fudosan Group in the city of Fukuoka, following the Hakataekimae 2-Chome Hotel Project (tentative name) which is scheduled to open in summer 2019 with approximately 300 rooms. It will be the third hotel in Kyushu if the Mitsui Garden Hotel Kumamoto (Chuo-ku, Kumamoto City; 225 rooms) is included.
