Mitsui Fudosan-led Consortium Enters into Basic Agreement
for the Operation of Hiroshima Airport

MTHS Consortium entered into a Basic Agreement with Japan’s Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism (“MLIT”) on November 16, 2020 for the operation of Hiroshima Airport (“the Project”). The consortium was selected as a preferred bidder for the Project on September 11, 2020. MTHS Consortium is a consortium led by a Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. and comprised of TOKYU CORPORATION, The Hiroshima Bank, Ltd., Hirogin Capital Partners Co., Ltd., Hiroshima Electric Railway Co., Ltd., Kyushu Electric Power Company, Incorporated, The Chugoku Electric Power Company, Incorporated, CHUDENKO CORPORATION, Energia Communications, Inc., Mazda Motor Corporation, FUKUYAMA TRANSPORTING CO., LTD., Hiroshima Mazda Co., Ltd., HIROSHIMA GAS Co., Ltd., SUMITOMO CORPORATION, TOKYU CONSTRUCTION CO., LTD., and TOKYU COMMUNITY CORP.

In this project, MTHS Consortium will give top priority to conducting safe and secure airport operations. Mindful of this priority, MTHS Consortium will promote the revitalization of Hiroshima Airport and the surrounding areas. The consortium will seek to increase the non-resident population from both within and outside the region. It will make the most of the geographical advantages of Hiroshima Airport, with its central location in the Chugoku and Shikoku region, and abundant tourist attractions, beginning with the Setouchi and San’in areas. Through these efforts, MTHS Consortium will help to stimulate the regional economy of Chugoku and Shikoku.

MTHS Consortium plans to commence operation of buildings and other facilities next spring and to commence operation of Hiroshima Airport on July 1, 2021. In accordance with the Basic Agreement, MTHS Consortium will prepare for the incorporation of a special purpose company and the execution of a subsequent Project Agreement.
