Construction Begins on Kyoto Sanjo Hotel Project (Provisional Name)

Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd., a leading global real estate company headquartered in Tokyo, and Mitsui Fudosan Hotel Management Co., Ltd. announced today that construction has begun on the Kyoto Sanjo Hotel Project (provisional name) on Sanjo Street in Kyoto’s Nakagyo Ward.

For this project, Mitsui Fudosan will build the hotel on land owned by Chikiriya Co., Ltd., a company with nearly 300 years of history. After construction is completed, the hotel will be managed by Mitsui Fudosan Hotel Management. It is scheduled to open in the summer of 2024.

The project is for the first of the Mitsui Garden Hotel Premier brand in Kyoto. Positioned as the flagship hotel in the brand, which integrates aspects of history and culture at each location and provides a higher level of lodging value, the hotel will combine a modern atmosphere in harmony with its surroundings, which will include The Museum of Kyoto, with a full slate of services.

The project is located around a three-minute walk from Karasuma Oike Station on Kyoto Municipal Subway’s Karasuma Line and an eight-minute walk from Shijo Station on the Karasuma Line and Karasuma Station on Hankyu Railway’s Kyoto Line, so access to transportation is exceptional. The location on Sanjo Street, with its abundance of cultural and culinary attractions, will make the hotel a very convenient base of operations for travel and leisure activities.

Mitsui Fudosan Hotel Management currently manages three hotel brands, Mitsui Garden Hotels, THE CELESTINE HOTELS, and sequence, a total of 39 hotels and 9,845 guest rooms in Japan and Taiwan. Mitsui Fudosan Hotel Management already manages 7 hotels in the city of Kyoto: Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Shinmachi Bettei, Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Sanjo, Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Shijo, Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Station, Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Kawaramachi Jokyoji, HOTEL THE CELESTINE KYOTO GION, and sequence KYOTO GOJO. The new hotel project will bring this total to 8.
