Mitsui Fudosan to Donate ¥100 Million to Japanese Red Cross Society toward Preventing COVID-19 Infection and for Humanitarian Assistance for the People of Ukraine

Tokyo, Japan, June 1, 2022 – Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd., a leading global real estate company headquartered in Tokyo, recognizes that in response to the global crisis triggered by COVID-19, an extremely high priority of ESG management is to continue to provide assistance to prevent the spread of COVID-19 with a view to ending the pandemic as soon as possible. From the standpoint of a crisis for world peace, as a company from a democratic nation, Mitsui Fudosan is strongly pained by the situation in Ukraine and feels the need to be close to refugees who are deeply in a serious situation. The Company’s strong desire is for the soonest possible realization of peace in the world and restoration of the international order.

With that in mind, the Company has decided to donate ¥100 million to the Japanese Red Cross Society, which is working to prevent the spread of infectious diseases such as COVID-19, and to provide humanitarian assistance to the people of Ukraine based on its mission of “gathering the spirits to save people who are suffering, we will protect human life, health and dignity under any circumstances.”

■ Japanese Red Cross Society

The Japanese Red Cross Society is engaged in activities to treat COVID-19 infections and prevent the spread of infection, mainly at Red Cross hospitals nationwide. It conducts a wide range of activities related to infectious diseases in Japan and overseas. For example, those activities include disaster relief activities that take infectious diseases into consideration once a disaster occurs, and awareness programs, mainly at schools, to prevent stigma and discrimination related to COVID-19. Moreover, through the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC), the Japanese Red Cross Society conducts assistance activities and humanitarian support to people in conflict zones or those being displaced from them, including Ukraine, distributing relief supplies such as food, water and hygiene kits, and providing such support as temporary shelter, medical services or first aid, etc..
